Memorial Day Fun

On Saturday of the long weekend, Mommy and Daddy took me to a Waterbaby Orientation. Mommy and Daddy think that, with all the pools here in Texas, it's good to be safe around water, so I'm going to start taking swimming lessons every week. To make it even more fun, Sofia's going to take class with me, so I know it will be a blast!

On Sunday, Daddy kicked off "barbeque season" by firing up the grill/smoker. We had a few people come over to play and eat ... and eat ... and eat ... and eat.

Ready for some friends and food!

On Monday -- actual Memorial Day -- Mommy and Daddy got me a fun new toy! My splash pad is amazing with all these different activities AND WATER! I can't wait to have people over to check it out.

Patiently waiting for to play in the water

Whoa

C'mon over!

Happy Birthday, Kaylie!

Kaylie turned 2 over the weekend and celebrated with a big party at My Gym. I've never been there, and it sure was cool. I got to jump on a trampoline, jump into a ball pit, and ride on this thing that went round-and-round-and-round. I had tons of fun and was glad I got to share the special day with Kaylie who is such a special girl! Unfortunately, since we wouldn't sit still long enough for a good picture, you'll have to check out Kaylie's blog if you want to see more.

In other news, Daddy has been dressing me and even doing my hair in the morning. Mommy and the teachers at my school have all been very impressed by his handiwork. You should let him know what a good job he's doing, too! All I know is, when I grow up, I wanna be a computer nerd just like my daddy (I'll give you one guess who dressed me that day!). Hehe.

Memorial Day coming up which means a long weekend! Woo-hoo!

15-Month Well-Baby Visit

Went to my well-baby visit today since we postponed it after I got sick last week. My stats:

  • Height: 30 & 3/4 inches (70%)
  • Weight: 21 lbs & 3oz (35%)
  • Head: 18cm (50%)

Mommy was a little surprised that I came out the tall end since the other babies in my class seem so much taller. I think my weight is also a little lower than it usually is because I was sick last night, but Dr. Frank said that I'm doing a good job growing and learning. I showed him just a couple of my tricks but was a little shy.

Mommy asked him when she should move me to a big girl bed and he said definitely when I start climbing out of my crib. When she said that I don't usually sleep in my crib, he laughed and said maybe that's what we should take care of first. I don't think so! Kekeke.

I did a really good job with my two shots and hope I don't need to go back until my 18-month appointment!

Mother's Day and Welcomed Visitors

Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye were in town to visit since Mommy had to do a business trip on Monday. We played lots and lots, and they worked on me learning the letter "C" now that I've figured out "A" and "B".

Resting with Nai-Nai

Sunday was Mother's Day, and Daddy did a good job getting Mommy stuff from the two of us. My favorite was the matching Mommy/Daughter PJs, and she especially liked the card I made her. My teachers also helped me make her a surprise at school, so she got lots of nice mementos for her second Mother's Day. We went on a long walk in the afternoon and cooled down with messy popsicles when we got back.

I finally got my May photo album up and going, so you can see more pictures there. Happy Mother's Day!

Forget the Swines ...

LISD decided to close school this week because there were a couple of H1N1 cases (1 confirmed, a few unconfirmed) in an elementary down the street. With all the hoopla in the media about the silly swine flu right now, who knew I'd have other things to worry about?!

Even though the school district wasn't open, my school was but didn't allow any LISD students -- or siblings of LISD students -- to attend. There was a lot of discussion between our mommies on whether we should go to school, and my mommy was convinced that I should go because she felt that the swine flu was all hyped up and overblown.

Then Sunday night rolled around and I got a low-grade fever and couldn't go to school. :( Mommy stayed home with me and took me to the doctor who diagnosed me with my very first ear infection. On Tuesday, Daddy didn't feel good either, so stayed home with me and we were pretty miserable together.

It was Tuesday that Mommy and Daddy noticed the blisters on the tip of my tongue that caused me to cry everytime I tried to eat anything. Uh-oh. Wednesday wasn't much better even though my fever was gone, and I ate pudding, jello, fruit cups, and finally baby food in a dropper because they were all soft while moping around the house. By now, we found out that there were other babies in my class and adjoining classes that had similar symptoms. My nurse gave my mom some home remedies but said there wasn't much more we can do since it was a virus.

On Thursday, I was back at school, and we had a name for what "it" was ... Hand, foot, and mouth disease; not to be confused with the bovine variety of hoof and mouth. My teachers were a bit concerned about my lack of appetite (I'm known as a good eater at school) but were glad to see me back. I went to school on Friday, too, where I had a grand time playing and Mommy and Daddy sent me to school with my own baggie of foods: pudding, fruit cups, jello, baby food, and a dropper, just in case.

By Saturday, I was pretty much all better and had a great appetite. I ate voraciously pretty much anything that was put in front of me and wanted "moh! moh! moh!" -- except pudding, fruit cups, and jello! Everyone was very relieved and happy this little episode is over.

Spring Flings and Celebrations

I've got a few weekends to catch up, I believe. One weekend, my school had a Spring Fling, so I went with Mommy and Daddy. I drove a firetruck, went on a train ride, and got to play with my teachers outside of class.

Honk, honk!

Choo-choo!

Is this Sofia? Yep!

We celebrated Logan turning one at a birthday party at his house. He had a huge ball and an awesome slide for us to play on, and boy did we play!

Is it my turn down the slide yet?

Happy birthday, Logan!

The next week, we threw a party for Juliet's new baby brother who is will be here soon. Lots of my playgroup friends came over to play and eat cupcakes.

Jammin' with my garage band gals --
Both Juliet and Sofia are going to be big sisters soon!

I've been busy learning my animal sounds, though I'm not always willing to show off just because you want me to. I've picked up a few more signs, and actual words are not far off. I've already got "Da-da" and "Ma-ma" down for sure, "Moh?" for "more" and "Meh-Mo" for Elmo.
