Memorial Day and a Change of Hands

I celebrated my first Memorial Day weekend last week. In honor of the largest beef consumption day of the year (really!), Daddy smoked a brisket while Mommy pretty much wore me all weekend just because she could. The brisket was soooo good (at least that's what it seemed like). Mommy bragged it was even better than Rudy's (her favorite), and we had Auntie Diana and Jacob come over to taste test.

Daddy's Smokin'!

I gave Mommy two gifts this weekend. I know how she's worried about missing my firsts, so I rolled over once from my stomach to my back and later actually laughed out loud (a real "hahahaha") for her as well. She was super happy.

Being close to Mommy

My new thing is blowing raspberries. Everyone's pretty sure I learned it from Mommy because she does it to me all the time. I like the noises it makes as well as the spit that flies everywhere when I do it. I'm solidly sucking my thumb and fingers (sometimes multiple ones at the same time), and Mommy has pretty much given up on trying to encourage or discourage me because I'm pretty stubborn. The only thing bad about it is that I tend to gag myself, but I'm sure I'll have more finesse over time.

They have to tie me in now because I insist on sitting up

After four weeks of having Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye here, I was sad to see them go home, but Po-Po, Gong-Gong, and Xiao-Jiu came to see me this week and watch me during the day while Mommy and Daddy were at work. They did a very good job taking care of me and my parents, and I'm sure there will be tons of pictures online soon because both Gong-Gong and Xiao-Jiu looooove to take pictures (see links at the right).

What is it about Asian (grand)parents always thinking it's too cold?

Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye come back again this weekend, and this time they will be here for 5 weeks (until July 4th). They've learned to take pictures and videos with Mommy's camera, so keep coming back for more updates!

Ye-Ye will be back soon

Oh, yeah. My playgroup is splitting up. :( We have so many babies here in the neighborhood that we're making our huge group (14 babies at today's playdate and 4 more to come next week!) into two smaller ones. My birthday is right on the cusp of the big baby group, but Mommy went ahead and volunteered to have us go to the little baby half to help even out the numbers. Hopefully we'll still get to see the other babies though, because I'm going to miss all the others and learning from all of them! I've suddenly gone from being the baby to being the oldest!

Look Who's Talking

Are you talking to me?

Developmentally, lots has been happening. I have definitely found my voice, and I love to blah, blah, blah with you. I'm still sleeping in my own bed in my own room every night; Mommy and Daddy are still in the room next to me, and I have a feeling they'll be in there for awhile. This weekend, I also started eating big bottles of milk -- from just 2 or 3 to 4 - 6 ounces per sitting! Mommy thinks maybe it's my 3 month growth spurt (I've also been a little fussy lately).

Daddy reads to me as part of my bedtime ritual

Exercising in my new Exersaucer

This weekend was pretty busy. Saturday was Kaylie's birthday, so we celebrated at a party at her house. Even though I didn't get to play in the water with all the other kids this time, I still had fun and was so happy to finally meet Kaylie!

Kaylie and Me

On Sunday, we went to the DFW Dragon Boat Festival where I rode in the Bjorn for the first time. In addition to the boat races, there were lion dances, kites, and inflatable Olympics mascots! I had a little meltdown (whoops), so we didn't get to stay to see all the races. Next year, Mommy said she wants to get a team together to race. Interested? :)

All By Myself

Just wanted to let everyone know that I slept in my own crib in my own room all by myself last night! I still got up as many times as usual, but Mommy and Daddy are used to it by now. Plus, they were sleeping right in the other room connected to mine because they didn't want to be too far away. :)

I found my thumb for real, too. Mommy's gotta decide now: paci or thumb?

Sunday was Mommy's first Mother's Day, and we celebrated at dim sum. Judging by the food on the table, it was yummy.

Three generations of Pees

Okay, that's it for now. I'm sure I'll have more pictures and stories up after this weekend ... it's Kaylie's 1-year birthday, and she's having a party! Yay!

Exercising with Nai-Nai. I think she might be getting the better workout.

P.S. I tried to post without a picture today and just couldn't do it. I didn't want to disappoint! I know how y'all like to just look at the pictures. :) Soooooo, here's an extra one just for the heck of it.

No Longer a Newborn

I'm 3 months old! Actually, it was on the 6th, but things have been a little busy around here now that Mommy is back at work. I think three months means I'm officially not a "newborn" anymore ... just an infant. Mommy's been packing up my clothes that I've outgrown and new clothes are being washed. With the hot weather coming up, I can't imagine that I'll be in anything but onesies and playsuits, but I keep seeing coordinating hats being thrown in the wash as well. Hmmm ...

First hair clips and now hats. What's next?!

Nai-Nai and Ye-Ye are doing a good job taking care of me during the day. They've been able to get me to take bottles and have worked out a good rhythm of activities. One big milestone is that I've gotten a LOT better at tummy time! I can move my arms up, lift up my head, and look around. I still like to sit and stand much better, but at least now I don't get stuck just staring at the ground.

Tummy time pays off

Last weekend, Mommy and Daddy took me to a grown-up party for Mr. Lance and Ms. Sara. Actually, the party was for Evan Cherie who is coming in July; I can't wait to play with her. Mommy and Ms. Sara always joked years ago that they would have babies the same year, and they really are! So many other babies being born ... I love it! And now that Christina is officially my Shen-Shen (she and George Shu-Shu got married!), maybe I'll have a cousin to play with soon too ... hehe.

Congratulations, George Shu-Shu and Christina Shen-Shen!
